How long does it take to set up?

Depending on how many people are available to help and how experienced the group is, expect to take 45 minutes to two hours for assembly.

How portable are they?

The Sturdy design prioritizes the mobile heritage of yurts. Because all the components are stackable and collapsible, a pickup truck with an 8 foot bed, a cargo van or an 8 foot utility trailer is often plenty of space to haul a yurt from place to place.

How many does it sleep?

If the square footage of a circle is helpful, then consider the following:

14 ft yurt = 154 sqft

16 ft yurt = 200 sqft

18 ft yurt = 254 sqft

We recommend alternating cots and sleeping pads to maximize space. Ultimately it’s the customers comfort that determines how much can fit. Derek has had as many as 5 adults, a wood stove and camp kitchen comfortably fit for five nights off grid in a 14 footer.

Does it require a foundation or a platform?

Sturdy yurts can be assembled directly on level, flat ground with a tarp and carpet for more mobile situations, but we can also provide plans for recommended platform designs. Platforms are contingent on local building codes and pricing varies depending on the region and building subcontractor.

How much does it cost?

Every project is unique! We work closely with every customer to ensure that the features will meet the needs of how each yurt is to be used. The standard finish 14 foot yurt starts at $9,150 and the price proportionately increases with the larger diameters and additional features.

Does Sturdy offer more than yurts?

Yes we do! Traditional snowshoes/ snowshoe repair and limited release camp furniture is made available seasonally throughout the year at in-person events and made to order.
